Another Very Crazy Script – Maybe
I’ve been working on another script that I hoped would make the install of the requirements for video sharing sites a snap. After fighting with my account for about 8 hours I was finally able to get things working the way I wanted them. Mind you that this doesn’t mean I’m anywhere near finishing the script to do this for you automatically but I will let you know what I was able to accomplish manually.
Installed and running:
autoconf
LAME
FFmpeg
GD2
mplayer+mencoder
Ruby
flvtool2
libogg
libvorbis
PEAR Repository
Custom install on PHP 5.2.6
FFmpeg-php
Currently I’m able to go all the way through the PHP 5.2.6 install automatically, it’s the ffmpeg-php that’s holding me up on the auto install but I think I may have this solved – it just needs some more scripting and I need a heck of a lot more soda.
Honestly I’m not sure if there are that many people who really want a script like this. The original reason behind doing this is for a script I’m writing that should basically become something like a remote ffmpeg service/API where you give it the URL of a video file – it grabs it, converts it, and sends it back through FTP or gives your system the link to grab it through code/manually/whatever you want. Cool huh?
In the meanwhile I’m writing the core of the system which allows some nice clean conversions to higher quality flv’s, wrapping it all up in a nice clean class, and for those people who are already DH customers I should be able to help set you all up with the requirements on your account.
Although that may be a script/class/service I end up charging for, and put the money into the “Feed my Children” fund! (Damn can they eat!)
Anyhow, respect to all those people who’ve set up their accounts for these video sharing sites. You’re all insane, and thus you rock.
