Recent Laconica Install
I had to do another install of laconica the other day and because of that I figured I would try out the installer that it comes with.
I’m sorry to say I was actually pretty disappointed. The config file that was generated had just a few lines in it, and when I loaded the site everything was basically broken theme wise.
I had to manually go in and fix up the config file. Looks like I will be updating my own installer after all – expect a release real soon.

I went ahead and sent you an email. We should be able to get it cleared up pretty easily.

I almost gave up with Laconica, script looks great. Managed to get it installed on my server.
I agree the ‘installer’ laconica offers is very bad indeed.
After editing the config file etc, it loaded up ok, however when I tested a post it came up blank.
Which is fantastic after several attempts at installing, apparently its something to do with the rendered text in the SQL database not updating properly.
Think I will scrap this if anyone has any suggestions please help!

Did you happen to clear your database before each attempt to install? I recommend dropping all the tables after each failed install. In any case let me know the details of your current laconica install and I’ll review it – see if we can’t get you up and running. Send me an email:

Hi Juanjose,
Yes with each new install I deleted the database and set up a new one on each occasion.
Everything works even posting to Twitter! But nothing on my own site.
I will install again and you can see for yourself any advice JuanJose would be gratefully received.
Will send you an email with the link.

Hello Juan,
I just used your install package to install latest 0.8.0 laconica release and when I finis, when I try to register user I get error:
The database for Mysite.com isn’t responding correctly, so the site won’t work properly. The site admins probably know about the problem, but you can contact them at webmaster@mysite.com to make sure. Otherwise, wait a few minutes and try again.
I also got these two Failed messages during the installation
Checking for Memcache Class: Failed
Checking for MailParse Extension: Failed
Can you send me what I need to do please?
I used your install package for previous laconica versions and it worked fine
