Updated Laconica Installer – Installing 0.7.3
Just finished testing the updated installer for laconica version 0.7.3 codenamed “You Are The Everything“. I’ve gone ahead and cleared out the old laconica install at http://laconica.gimmesoda.com and tested the installer there with no problems. Also, there was a bug which allowed the installer to continue running even after failing to select the database. This has been fixed as well.
The installer can be downloaded from the usual location:

One last thing, you have to call the install script from gimme_install.php instead of install.php (laconica now has it’s own installer at that location).
If people still need help with this I do offer an install service, just contact me.
The database for test isn’t responding correctly, so the site won’t work properly. The site admins probably know about the problem, but you can contact them at webmaster@laconica.gimmesoda.com to make sure. Otherwise, wait a few minutes and try again.
Hello again – I tried the new installer and I’m left with the following error:

Fantastic work on the installer JJ, maybe you should get a job at laconica or they should offer your installer as part of there download for 0.73.
Still having the same problem with my database which is weird.

Thanks for this. Worked for me first time :-) Are you able to subscribe to a remote laconica/identica user from your Dreamhost laconica install? I haven’t been able to for a while now, which kind of defeats the purpose of openmicroblogging. There’s a ticket filed in trac, but thought I’d ask here, too.

I was pretty sure that I had subscribed to a remote user in the past, although I can’t be certain. I’ll do a search for the ticket, or send me the url if you get the chance, and I’ll see about figuring out why it doesn’t work and fixing it.
